Ecclesiastes 3 is one of the most beautiful poems in the whole Bible. It says there is a right time for everything.
Today's Story
The Teacher noticed something true about life. Everything has its own right time.
There is a time to be born, and a long time later, a time to say goodbye. There is a time to plant tiny seeds, and a time to pick the vegetables when they have grown big. There is a time to cry, and there is a time to laugh. There is a time to be quiet, and a time to sing out loud. There is a time to hug, and a time to wave goodbye.
Think about a tree outside. In spring it grows new leaves. In summer it is full and green. In fall the leaves turn orange and float down. In winter the branches rest in the snow. Each season comes at just the right time.
The Teacher knew Who made all the times and seasons: God. The happy times and the hard times are all held safely in God's good hands. And God makes everything beautiful in its time.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- The Teacher says there is a time to cry and a time to laugh. What made you laugh this week? Was there anything that made you want to cry?
- Which season is your favorite — winter, spring, summer, or fall? Why?
- Sometimes we are in a hard time and we wish it would end. How does it help to know God is holding that time in His hands too?
