God gave Ezekiel a message about a famous city by the sea called Tyre. It was a rich and busy place — and it thought it would shine forever.
Today's Story
By the edge of the sea stood a grand old city called Tyre. It was rich. It was busy. Big ships sailed in and out all day long, bringing gold and treasures from far away. Tyre had tall, thick walls, and the people felt very safe and very proud.
But when hard times came to Jerusalem, the people of Tyre did not feel sad. They rubbed their hands together and said, “Good! Now more ships and more money will come to us instead!”
God gave Ezekiel a message for Tyre. God said, “You think your money and your strong walls will keep you safe forever. But they will not. Walls fall. Treasure runs out. Even a city as grand as you can wear away, like a rock washed smooth by the waves.”
God was not being mean. He was telling the truth. The things people pile up — money, big buildings, fancy stuff — do not last forever. They wear out in time.
But God lasts forever. He never wears out. He never runs out. The safest place to put your trust is not in stuff — it is in the God who is always there.
A Big Word

Talk About It
- Have you ever had a toy that broke or wore out? How did that feel?
- The city of Tyre trusted in its money and walls. What are some things people today think will keep them happy — but do not last?
- God lasts forever and never wears out. What is one thing you love that God has given you that money cannot buy?
