Ezekiel 27 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

God gave Ezekiel a song to sing about the sea-city of Tyre. In the song, the whole city is one giant, gorgeous ship.

Today's Story

God told Ezekiel to sing a song. And in the song, the city of Tyre was a ship — the most beautiful ship anyone had ever seen.

Picture it. The boards were made from the finest wood. The sails were bright and fancy, the kind that made everyone on the shore say, “Ooooh!” Sailors from all over the world worked on its deck. The ship sailed everywhere, trading and gathering treasures — silver and gold, shiny stones, soft cloth, sweet spices. It was packed so full of wonderful things that it sat low in the water.

This ship was rich and grand and proud. Everyone wanted to be just like it.

But then, in the song, a strong wind blew. The waves rose up high. And out in the deep, deep middle of the sea — the beautiful ship went down. All the treasure, all the fancy sails, all of it sank beneath the waves.

It was a sad song. The whole world looked on with sad faces. All that the ship had piled up could not keep it floating.

Here is the good news a song like that helps us remember. Stuff can sink. Treasures can sink. But God is like a great big rock that never, ever sinks. When we stand on Him, we are safe.

A Big Word

Talk About It

  1. What is the most beautiful boat or ship you can imagine? What would you fill it with?
  2. The grand ship had everything — but it still sank. Why do you think God wants us to hold onto Him instead of holding onto our stuff?
  3. When life feels stormy or scary, what helps you feel steady and safe?
