Ezra had prayed an honest prayer about how God's people had wandered away. Now something wonderful starts to happen: the people decide to come back to God together.
Today's Story
While Ezra was praying and crying about how the people had wandered away from God, something started to change.
A big crowd gathered around him — men, women, and children. And they were crying too. They felt sorry. They knew they had let other things pull their hearts away from God.
Then one of them stood up and said something brave. “We have done wrong. But there is still hope! Let's make this right. Be strong — we can do it!”
So the people made a hard, serious choice. They decided to clear away everything that had pulled them away from God, so they could fully belong to Him again. It wasn't easy. But they wanted God more than anything else.
They stood out in the rain to promise it together. Then the leaders went name by name, helping each family take the step of turning back to God.
It was a sad day and a hopeful day, all at once. Because turning back to God is always the start of something new.

- The people did something hard because they wanted God most of all. What is something hard you might do because you love God?
- One brave person said, “There is still hope — be strong, we can do it!” Who is someone you could cheer on to do the right thing?
