Genesis 7 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

The ark is finished. The animals are coming. And the first raindrops are about to fall.

Today's Story

The ark was finally done. God said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family. In seven days, the flood will come.”

Then the animals came — and this is the amazing part. Noah didn't have to chase a single one. God sent them! Two by two they came: lions and lambs, elephants and mice, owls and ostriches, hoppy ones and creepy-crawly ones, two of every kind. Up the ramp they marched and into the ark.

Noah's family went in. And then God Himself shut the big door behind them.

And it began to rain. Not a normal rain — water poured down from the sky and burst up from the ground. It rained forty days and forty nights. The water rose higher and higher, until even the mountaintops were covered.

But the ark floated. Up on top of all that water, with everyone God loved tucked safely inside, the ark rode the waves. God had kept His promise. Everyone inside was safe.

A Big Word

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. God sent the animals to Noah two by two — he didn't even have to round them up! What's something only God could do?
  2. “The Lord shut them in.” God Himself closed the door to keep them safe. When have you felt safe and protected during something scary, like a big storm?
  3. It rained for forty days — a long time inside a boat! What helps you be patient when you have to wait a long time?
