God gave Isaiah a message about a rich and famous city by the sea called Tyre. It was a message about what really lasts.
Today's Story
There was a busy city by the ocean called Tyre. It was one of the richest cities in the whole world!
Big wooden ships sailed in and out of its harbor all day long. They carried gold, fine cloth, and treasures from faraway lands. Traders bought and sold and grew very, very wealthy. People all around looked at Tyre and said, “Wow! Look how rich and grand they are!”
But the city had started to feel proud. They thought their ships and their treasure made them the greatest of all - like nothing could ever touch them.
So God sent Isaiah with a message: even the richest city in the world is not as big as God. Their gold could not make them last forever. Their ships could not keep them safe. One day all that treasure would slip away like sand.
God wasn't being mean. He was reminding everyone of something true: money and fancy things don't last. Only God lasts forever. He is the only One strong enough to truly hold us safe.
A Big Word
Talk About It
- What is something you really, really want to have or buy? Do you think it would make you happy forever, or just for a little while?
- The city trusted in its money and ships. Why is God a better thing to trust than money?
- What is one thing you have that money could never buy - something God gave you?
