Jeremiah 21 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Jeremiah was God's messenger. His job was to tell people the truth, even when the truth was hard.

Today's Story

Trouble was coming to the city of Jerusalem. A big army was on its way, and the people were scared.

So the king sent some men to find Jeremiah. “Please ask God to help us,” they said. “Maybe God will do something amazing and make the army go home.”

They were hoping for good news. But Jeremiah had to tell them the truth, even though it was hard to hear. For a long time, the people had been treating each other unkindly and forgetting all about God. Jeremiah had warned them again and again. And they had kept doing what they wanted anyway.

So Jeremiah said the city would not be rescued this time. The hard thing they had chosen was going to come.

But then God said something kind, even now. He told the people, “You can still choose the way that leads to life.” He was still holding the door open. He was still inviting them to come back to Him.

A Big Word

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. The king wanted good news, but Jeremiah told the truth instead. Why is it sometimes kind to tell the truth, even when it's hard?
  2. Can you think of a time a grown-up warned you about something so you wouldn't get hurt? What happened?
  3. God still said, “You can choose the way that leads to life.” What do you think it looks like to choose God's good way today?
