Jeremiah 26 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Jeremiah was a man who spoke for God. His job was hard — he had to tell people things they did not want to hear, because he loved them.

Today's Story

God said to Jeremiah, “Go stand in the courtyard of my house. Tell everyone who comes to worship: please come back to me. Stop the wrong things you are doing. If you do, the sad things that are coming do not have to happen.”

So Jeremiah went and stood where everybody could hear him. He told them God's message, plain and clear.

But the people did not like it. Their faces turned angry. A big crowd grabbed Jeremiah and shouted, “How dare you say that! You must be in big trouble for this!”

Jeremiah was not loud, and he was not mean. He just told the truth. “God really did send me,” he said. “I am only telling you what He told me. You can do what you want with me. But please, please listen and come back to Him.”

Then some wise leaders and old grandfathers stood up. “Wait,” they said. “This man spoke for God. We should not hurt him.”

And God kept Jeremiah safe. He went home that night, still telling the truth, still loving the people who did not want to hear it.
