Jeremiah 42 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

The people were scared about what to do next. So they did a wise thing — they asked God.

Today's Story

After all the hard things that had happened, the people felt worried and unsure. Should they stay here? Should they run somewhere else? They did not know what to do.

So they came to Jeremiah. “Please pray for us,” they begged. “Ask God what we should do. And whatever He says — yes or no, easy or hard — we promise to listen.”

“I will pray,” said Jeremiah. “I will not hide anything from you. I will tell you every word God gives me.”

Then Jeremiah waited. He waited ten whole days for God to answer. Sometimes we have to wait a little while to hear from God, and that is okay.

At last God spoke, and His words were warm and kind. “Stay here in this land,” God said. “Do not be afraid. I am with you. I will keep you safe. I will plant you like a tree and not pull you up. My heart is full of kindness toward you.”

What a gentle answer! God was not far away. He was close, like a parent tucking a child in at night, saying, “Don't be scared. I've got you.”
