Job is a good man who lost so much, and now even his friends are being unkind. But in Job 19 he says the most hopeful thing in the whole book.
Today's Story
Job was having the hardest time of his life. Sad things had happened to him, one after another. And now his three friends, who were supposed to help, kept saying it was all his own fault.
“How long will you keep hurting me with your words?” Job asked them. He felt lonely. He felt like even the people he loved had turned away. “Have pity on me, my friends,” he said. “Please be gentle.”
It would have been easy for Job to give up hope. But right there, in the middle of the dark, Job lifted his head and said something amazing. He said it so loud he wished someone would carve it in stone so it would last forever:
“I know that my Saviour lives! One day I will see Him with my own eyes. He is real, and He has not forgotten me.”
Job still did not understand why his hard time was happening. But he held on tight to one thing: God was alive, God was good, and God would never let him go.

Talk About It
- Job felt lonely when his friends were unkind. When was a time you felt left out or lonely? What helped?
- Job held on to hope even when he did not understand. What is something you can hold on to when a day feels hard?
- Job said, “I know my Saviour lives.” How does it feel to know God is alive and right there with you, even on a sad day?
