Job's friend Eliphaz keeps talking. He still does not understand Job's hard time — but he says some true and beautiful things about God.
Today's Story
Eliphaz kept on talking to Job. He told Job that the best thing to do in a hard time is to bring it to God. “If I were you,” he said, “I would tell God all about it and trust Him with my troubles.”
Then Eliphaz said something very true about God. He said God “does wonders that cannot be counted.” God makes the rain fall on the fields. God lifts up people who are sad and low. God helps the ones who need help most.
Eliphaz said something else beautiful: sometimes God lets us feel a hurt, but God can also bring the healing. “He wounds, but He also bandages up,” he said. The same God who is near in our sad times is the God who makes us better again.
Eliphaz still did not understand why Job was hurting. But this part was true: God is full of wonders, and He cares for hurting people.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- What is one wonder of God you have seen lately — maybe a rainbow, a bug, the rain, or the stars?
- Eliphaz said God lifts up people who are low. Have you ever felt sad and then felt better? Who helped you?
- When you have a problem, who do you like to talk to about it? Did you know you can always talk to God too?
