Tired and thirsty, Jesus sits by a well and talks with a woman everyone else avoided — and offers her “living water” that never runs dry.
Today's Story
Jesus was tired from traveling, so He sat down by a well to rest while His friends went to buy food. It was the hottest part of the day.
A woman came to the well to get water — alone, because other people looked down on her. She had made some wrong choices, and people avoided her. But Jesus did something surprising: He talked to her, kindly! “Will you give Me a drink?” He asked.
She was shocked — important teachers didn't usually talk to women like her! But Jesus said something amazing: “If you knew who I am, you would ask ME for a drink — for living water. Whoever drinks the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a spring inside them, bubbling up to life forever!”
Jesus knew everything about her — even the wrong things she'd done — and He STILL talked with her, kindly and with love. He offered her a fresh start and a forever kind of life.
The woman was so amazed and joyful that she ran back to her town and told everyone: “Come and see! Could this be the One we've waited for?” And many people believed in Jesus because of her. The woman nobody wanted to talk to became the first to tell her whole town about Jesus.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- Jesus talked kindly with a woman everyone else avoided. Who is someone who gets left out that you could be kind to?
- Jesus knew everything about her and loved her anyway. How does it feel that Jesus knows everything about you and still loves you?
- The woman ran to tell her whole town. Who would you run to tell about Jesus?
