The book of sad songs ends with a prayer — the people asking God to remember them and bring them back home to Him.
Today's Story
The sad songs are almost over. And how does the whole book end? With a prayer.
The people are tired. They are far from home, and they have lost so much. The fun, happy days feel like a long time ago.
But instead of giving up, they do the best thing they can do. They come to God together, and they pray.
First they say, “Remember us, Lord. Look and see how we are doing.” They want God to know they are still His, even after all the hard days.
Then they remember something wonderful: “You, Lord, are King forever. You will always be on Your throne.” God is still in charge. He never stopped being King, not for one minute.
So they end with the bravest prayer of all: “Bring us back to You, Lord, and we will come back. Make our days new again, like they used to be.”
They are asking to come home. Home to God.
And that is a prayer God loves to hear. No matter how far away we feel, we can always ask Him, “Bring me back to You.” And He will.
A Big Word

Talk About It
- When you've been away from home for a while, what do you miss most? The people prayed to come home to God — what do you think being close to God feels like?
- The people remembered that God is King forever, even on their hardest day. How does it help to know God is always in charge?
- Is there something you want to ask God for today? Remember, He loves it when we come and talk to Him.
