Lamentations 3 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Right in the middle of all the sad songs, the sun comes up. This is the most hopeful part of the whole book.

Today's Story

The singer of this song was having a very hard time. Everything felt dark. He felt sad and tired, like the night would never end.

Have you ever felt that way? Like the bad feeling was just too big?

For a while, he could only think about how much it hurt. But then he stopped. He took a breath. And he made himself remember something true.

He remembered God.

He thought, “Wait. God loves me. God's love never, ever runs out. Every single morning, when the sun comes up, His love is fresh and new — like a brand-new day.”

So he said the bravest, brightest words in the whole book: “The Lord's great love never ends. His tender care never runs out. It is new every morning. How faithful You are, God!”

Think about a sunrise. Every morning the sky goes from dark to light. The sun always, always comes back up. You can count on it.

That is what God's love is like. No matter how dark last night felt, His love is brand new in the morning. He keeps every promise. He never lets you go.

And just like that, the singer had hope again.

A Big Word

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. What is your favorite thing about a brand-new morning — breakfast, sunshine, a fresh start? God's love is new like that every single day!
  2. The singer was sad, but then he chose to remember something true about God. What is one true thing about God you can remember when you feel sad?
  3. God is faithful — He always keeps His promises. How does it feel to know He will never, ever stop loving you?
