Luke 16 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Jesus teaches that how we use what God gives us — and how we treat people in need — really matters.

Today's Story

Jesus taught His followers an important lesson about being trustworthy. “If you can be trusted with a little,” He said, “you can be trusted with a lot. Whoever is faithful with small things will be faithful with big things too.” God watches to see if we'll be honest and faithful, even with little things.

Jesus also said something very important: “You cannot love God and love money at the same time. One of them will be the boss of your heart.” Money is fine to use, but it should never become the most important thing. God should always be first.

Then Jesus told about a rich man who had everything, and a poor man named Lazarus who sat hungry right outside his gate. Day after day, the rich man walked past Lazarus and never once stopped to help him. He had so much, but he shared nothing. He didn't even notice the hurting man at his door.

Jesus was teaching us: notice the people in need around us! Don't walk past the hurting. Use what God gives us to be kind and generous, and keep God — not money — first in our hearts.
