Matthew 19 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

When people try to keep the children away from Jesus, Jesus says something wonderful.

Today's Story

Parents were bringing their little children to Jesus, hoping He would put His hands on them and bless them. But the disciples thought Jesus was too busy and important for kids. They tried to shoo the children away.

When Jesus saw this, He was not happy with the disciples. “Let the little children come to Me!” He said. “Don't keep them away. God's kingdom belongs to ones just like these!”

Then Jesus gathered the children close, put His hands on them, and blessed them. He was never too busy for children. Jesus loves children — and that means He loves YOU. You are always welcome to come close to Jesus.

Later, a rich young man came to Jesus, wanting to know how to have life with God. But when Jesus asked him to let go of his great riches and follow, the man walked away sad — he loved his money too much. Jesus showed that nothing, not even treasure, is worth more than following Him.
