Psalms 113 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Psalm 113 is a praise song. It tells us God is higher than the highest sky - and yet He bends all the way down to lift up the smallest person.

Today's Story

This song starts with a happy shout: “Praise the Lord!”

When should we praise Him? The song says all day long. “From the time the sun rises to the time it sets, may the name of the Lord be praised.” Morning, noon, and bedtime - God is good the whole time.

Then the song looks up. Way, way up. God is higher than the sky. Higher than the clouds. Higher than the stars. Nobody is as big or as great as He is.

But here comes the most wonderful part. This great big God bends down low.

The song says He looks down on the heavens and the earth. He notices the people everybody else forgets. He lifts up the person sitting in the dust. He takes someone who feels small and gives them a special place.

Think about that. The God who is bigger than everything cares about the littlest one. He sees you. He bends down to you. And that is a reason to praise Him all day long.

Talk About It

  1. The song says to praise God from sunrise to sunset. What is one good thing about today you could thank God for right now?
  2. God is higher than the sky, but He still bends down to notice the smallest person. How does it feel to know God sees you?
  3. Can you think of someone who might feel left out or forgotten? How could you be kind to them, the way God notices everyone?
