Romans is a letter Paul wrote to help God's family love God and love each other.
Today's Story
Paul is getting near the end of his long letter, and his heart is full. He wants God's family to know two warm things.
First, he says, “Help each other.” If you are strong, help someone who is weak. Don't just think about what makes you happy — think about your friend too. Paul reminds them that Jesus did this. Jesus didn't just please Himself. He thought about us and put us first.
Second, Paul wants everyone to be filled with hope. Hope means knowing that good things are coming because God is good and God keeps His promises. Paul prays a beautiful prayer over them: “May the God who gives hope fill you with joy and peace.” Isn't that lovely? Joy and peace and hope, all spilling over!
Paul also tells them he hopes to come visit soon. He loves these people, even ones he has never met. They are all part of God's big family together — helping, hoping, and cheering each other on.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- What is something good you are hoping for right now?
- Paul says the strong should help the weak. Who is someone you could help carry something heavy — a job, a worry, or a sad feeling?
- When you feel full of joy, who do you want to share it with?
