Zechariah's last chapter is a bright, happy ending: one day God Himself will come, fix everything that went wrong, and be King over the whole world.
Today's Story
God saved the most wonderful promise for last. Zechariah saw a day coming — a day so good it makes your heart leap.
“The Lord himself will come,” Zechariah said. And when He comes, His feet will touch down on a hill called the Mount of Olives, right outside Jerusalem. The whole world will know that the King has arrived.
On that day, fresh, sparkling water will pour out of the city — rivers of it, flowing in every direction, in summer and in winter, never drying up. Everything it touches will come alive.
And the darkness? It will not win. Zechariah said it will not even be regular day or regular night. When evening usually comes and the sky goes dark, instead there will be light! Because where God is, the light never runs out.
Then comes the very best line of all. “The Lord will be King over the whole earth. On that day there will be one Lord, and everyone will know His name.”
No more crying. No more being afraid. No more sad things. Just God, shining bright, ruling with love, making everything right and good and beautiful — forever. That is how Zechariah's book ends: with the gentle King winning, and everyone safe and happy with Him.
