God gives Zechariah a beautiful promise: He will open a fountain to wash hearts clean and make people His very own.
Today's Story
God gave Zechariah a picture as fresh and clear as cool water.
“On that day,” God said, “I will open a fountain for my people. It will wash them clean.”
Think of the dirtiest you have ever been — muddy hands, sticky face, grass-stained knees. Then think of jumping into a clean, bubbling stream and coming out fresh and new. That is the picture. But this fountain does not just wash the outside. It washes the inside — the wrong things people did, gone, like dirt rinsed away.
God promised that the things that pulled people away from Him would be cleared out. No more pretend prophets telling lies. No more pretend gods made of wood and gold. Just the one true God, and His people walking with Him.
And here is the best part. God said, “I will say, They are my people. And they will say, The Lord is our God.” That is like the warmest hug in the whole world — God saying you belong to me, and His people saying yes, You are ours.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- What is the messiest or muddiest you have ever gotten? How good did it feel to finally get clean?
- God promised to wash hearts clean on the inside. How do you think it feels to have God forgive a wrong thing and make your heart fresh again?
- God said, “They are my people.” What does it feel like to belong — to be part of a family, a team, or God's family?
