Lamentations 3:60 Meaning and Explanation

'Thou hast seen all their vengeance and all their imaginations against me.' The sufferer affirms again that God has observed everything — not only the visible wrongs but the inner 'imaginations,' the secret plots and schemes of his enemies. Nothing of their malice escaped God's notice, not even the plans hidden in their hearts.

There is deep comfort in being so thoroughly seen by God. The schemes that enemies imagine they have concealed are open before him. The sufferer does not have to prove his case or expose the plots himself; God has seen them all. This frees him from the exhausting burden of self-vindication and lets him rest in the knowledge that the Judge already knows the whole truth, down to the secret devices of those who hate him.
