What Does Luke 10:9 Mean?
The mission has two hands: deed and word. The messengers heal — real bodies, real relief — and then name what the healing means: the kingdom of God has come close. The works are not advertisement for the message; they are the message arriving.
Come nigh unto you — near enough to touch. In Jesus the reign of God is not a distant prospect but a present approach, pressing upon every town he is about to enter.
