What Does Luke 11:16 Mean?
A second group answers the miracle with a demand: not deliverance on earth but a spectacle from the sky, some unmistakable proof blazing overhead. Luke says they asked it tempting him -- testing, not seeking.
A sign had just stood before them: a silenced man speaking. The demand for more reveals that no quantity of evidence satisfies a heart that has already decided. Jesus will answer this demand later in the chapter with the sign of Jonah -- and with himself.
