What Does Luke 11:36 Mean?
Jesus completes the teaching with a promise. When the eye is single and no chamber of the life is kept shuttered, the whole person becomes luminous -- lit as a room is lit when the lamp blazes.
It is a portrait of integrity: nothing held back, no corner roped off from God, and therefore light all the way through. Such a person not only sees by the light but begins to give it, shining like the lamp itself. What begins as receiving Christ's light ends as resembling it.
