What Does Luke 12:2 Mean?
This saying grounds the warning against hypocrisy. Pretense depends on concealment — a gap between what is shown and what is true — and Jesus announces that the gap has an expiration date. In God's ordering of things, every covering comes off and every hidden thing is brought into open light.
The promise cuts both ways. For the pretender it is a warning: no mask survives the day of disclosure.
