Luke 12:6 Meaning and Explanation

In the marketplace sparrows were the cheapest food sold — two for a farthing in Matthew's account, five for two farthings here, as if the fifth bird were thrown into the bargain. Jesus chooses the creature whose market value rounds to nothing and sets it against the memory of God: not one is forgotten.

The argument runs from lesser to greater and lands on the fearful disciple. If God's attention rests on a bird worth half a penny, His people are never out of His sight. Forgotten is the word the anxious heart whispers about itself; Jesus answers it at the level of sparrows so we cannot miss the point. No one who follows His Son ever falls from the Father's mind.
