What Does Luke 16:12 Mean?
The third saying completes the sequence and returns to the steward's situation. Everything a disciple manages now — money, possessions, abilities, days — is that which is another man's: it belongs to God and is held on trust, exactly as the steward held his master's goods.
And what is your own? Jesus points toward an inheritance that can be possessed as nothing in this life can — the kingdom the Father delights to give His little flock (Luke 12:32), treasure no thief approaches and no moth corrupts. The present life is stewardship; the life to come is bestowal. Faithfulness with God's property is how a servant is made ready to receive what will never be taken away.
