What Does Luke 17:14 Mean?
The law required a healed leper to be examined by a priest and offer the appointed sacrifices before rejoining the community (Leviticus 14). The command therefore carries a hidden promise: only the healed had any reason to make that journey. Jesus asks them to act on a healing they cannot yet see.
"As they went, they were cleansed." The miracle meets them in mid-obedience. Faith here is not a feeling but ten sets of footsteps moving on a bare word from Christ. Much of discipleship keeps this shape: the cleansing, the provision, the clarity arrive on the road, not before it. Go at His word, and grace will meet you going.
