Luke 18:36 Meaning and Explanation

A blind beggar's world is sound, and this sound is unusual — too many feet, too many voices for an ordinary day. He does the one thing he can do: he asks. The question costs him nothing and is about to change everything, for someone in the crowd is going to say a name he knows.

Grace often approaches wrapped in the ordinary: a commotion, a passing remark, a moment that could easily be let go. The man could have shrugged as the noise faded down the road; instead he reached after its meaning, and the answer put Jesus within his calling distance. Asking is the beginning of seeing — no one who honestly inquires after God is left without an answer.
