What Does Luke 2:22 Mean?
The law of Moses appointed a period of purification for a mother after childbirth, forty days following the birth of a son (Leviticus 12:2-4). When those days are accomplished, the family travels the few miles from Bethlehem up to Jerusalem, to the temple, to present the child to the Lord.
