What Does Luke 2:45 Mean?
The search through the caravan fails, and Joseph and Mary do the only thing left: they turn back. Retracing a full day of road, they head for Jerusalem, seeking Him, anxious parents combing a festival city for a missing son.
The way to recover what is lost is to go back to where He was last with you. Their turning is a picture of all true seeking: not waiting passively for the ache to pass, but returning, step by deliberate step, toward the place of His presence. God honors such seeking. The promise through Jeremiah holds: ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:13).
