What Does Luke 21:32 Mean?
Jesus seals the discourse with his solemn formula, Verily I say unto you. Those standing before him would not all pass from the scene before his words began to prove true; within that generation, about forty years, Jerusalem was encircled and the temple thrown down exactly as he had said.
The near fulfillment is the pledge of the far one. The hearers who lived to see the city fall held in that ruin the confirmation that every remaining word, the coming of the Son of man, the redemption, the kingdom, stands just as sure. God's word does not fail by delay; what he has spoken, in his appointed seasons, comes to pass entire.
