An hour passes - an hour of sitting inside the lie, hoping it holds. Then a third voice, confident this time and carrying evidence: Peter's Galilean speech gives him away (Matthew 26:73). 'Of a truth this fellow also was with him.'
Peter's own accent testified against his denial; he carried the marks of where he was from and whom he had followed. Disciples always do.
