What Does Luke 24:2 Mean?
The stone sealing the rock-cut tomb was the women's chief worry on the way — far too heavy for them to move (Mark 16:3). Luke records simply that when they arrived, the problem had already been solved: the stone lay rolled aside.
The stone was not moved so Jesus could get out; the risen Lord needed no door. It was moved so witnesses could get in and see for themselves.
