The two relay the women's testimony in full: the body missing, a vision of angels, and the angels' message that Jesus is alive. Every element of Easter morning is now on the travelers' own lips.
They are reciting the resurrection to the risen Lord without believing a word of it. He is alive — they can say the sentence; they cannot yet lean on it. There is a difference between carrying the message and being carried by it. Christ walks patiently beside people in exactly that gap, and he does not intend to leave them there.
