What Does Luke 6:19 Mean?
The whole multitude seeks one thing — to touch him. The old word 'virtue' here translates the Greek word for power: strength was going out from Jesus, and it healed them all. Luke will show the same thing when a woman touches the hem of his garment (Luke 8:46).
Not some of them; all. There is no rationing at the feet of Christ, no exhausting of his supply. The crowds reached for him with their hands; the Gospel invites us to reach with our faith. The power that healed bodies on the plain still goes out from the risen Lord to restore all who come.
