A new day of the final week begins. Jesus and the disciples walk the road from Bethany back toward the city, and Mark records a plainly human detail: Jesus was hungry.
The Son of God knew hunger. He who fed five thousand did not exempt himself from the body's needs; he fasted in the wilderness, slept in the storm, thirsted on the cross, and here walks hungry toward Jerusalem.
