With the verdict given, restraint ends. Some spit on him; they cover his face, strike him with their fists, and demand, Prophesy — name who hit you, a cruel game played on a condemned man. Then the servants take their turn with the palms of their hands.
The servant of the LORD had said, I gave my back to the smiters... I hid not my face from shame and spitting (Isaiah 50:6).
