What Does Mark 15:47 Mean?
The chapter closes with watchers. Two of the women from verse 40 follow the burial to its end and mark the place, eyewitnesses to the tomb, the linen, and the stone.
Because they watched, there can be no mistake on Sunday morning: the women who find the tomb empty are the same women who saw it sealed. Their vigil closes the darkest day in history with a thread of devotion that refuses to break. Love kept its eyes on Jesus even in burial, and such love is not wasted; these same eyes will be the first to see the stone rolled away, and these same ears the first to hear that he is risen.
