What Does Mark 5:6 Mean?
From far off the man sees Jesus -- and runs. The one whose running had terrified everyone else runs toward this stranger and falls at his feet in homage.
The verse holds a mystery: the spirits within him dread Jesus, yet the man himself rushes to him. Mark lets us see both at once -- darkness compelled to bow, and perhaps, beneath it, a buried human longing sprinting for help while it can. Either way, the direction is everything. However broken, however driven, whoever runs to Christ and falls before him will find that he has run to the right person.
