As suddenly as it began, the vision ends. The cloud lifts, the prophets are gone, the light fades, and the disciples look around to find no one but Jesus, looking as He always had.
The mountain's last gift is its plainest: Jesus only. They descend with no shrine and no relic, only Him, and He is enough. Most of faith's life is lived after the vision fades, on ordinary ground, with a Lord whose glory we have learned to trust though it is veiled. Moses and Elijah pass from sight; the Son remains. Whatever else falls away from a life, to be left with Jesus only is to have lost nothing.
