What Does Matthew 10:26 Mean?
Having warned of hatred and slander, Jesus now lifts the disciples above their fear with the first of three commands not to be afraid. The reason he gives reaches to the end of all things: nothing covered will stay hidden, and nothing concealed will fail to be known.
A day is coming when all truth is brought to light, when slanders are exposed and faithfulness is vindicated. The disciple need not fear the lies told against him now, for the final reckoning belongs to God. This confidence frees the believer to speak and live openly, knowing that what is done in secret faithfulness will one day be revealed before the whole creation.
