Matthew 13:37 Meaning and Explanation

Jesus begins to interpret the parable of the tares point by point. The sower of the good seed, He says, is the Son of man, a title He often used of Himself. He identifies Himself as the one planting good seed in the world.

This opening word frames everything that follows. The good in the world is sown by Christ Himself; He is the source of the genuine harvest. The verse reassures the reader that the King is personally at work, sowing what is good even where evil intrudes. Whatever trouble the field may hold, the good seed has a good and royal Sower, and His planting will not finally be lost.
