What Does Matthew 15:25 Mean?
Undeterred, the woman comes closer and worships Him, falling at His feet with the briefest of prayers: Lord, help me. She does not argue or claim a right; she simply casts herself on His mercy. Her posture of worship and her three plain words distill faith to its essence, a needy soul appealing to the only One who can help.
Few prayers are purer than this one. Stripped of all pretense, it is the cry of the helpless to the able, of the dependent to the Lord. Her persistence has now become worship, and her worship a plea. The verse hands us words we can always make our own. When we have no eloquence and no claim, we may still come and kneel and say, with her, Lord, help me, and find He is near.
