What Does Matthew 17:14 Mean?
From the glory of the mountain Jesus steps straight into the press of human need. A waiting crowd surrounds Him, and out of it a father comes and falls to his knees -- a posture of desperate, humble appeal -- to lay his burden before the Lord.
The same Jesus who shone like the sun now receives a kneeling father at the foot of the hill. Glory and compassion are not divided in Him. He who was honored by the Father's voice does not hold Himself aloof from a parent's grief, but turns to meet it. No sorrow is too lowly to bring to His feet.
