Matthew 26:46 Meaning and Explanation

Jesus wakes His friends with a call to movement: Rise, let us be going. He does not flee deeper into the garden or over the ridge into the wilderness; He walks toward the torches.

Let us be going -- toward the betrayer, not away from him. Gethsemane ends with the obedience it won. The cup has been accepted, and now every step is voluntary. No one takes His life from Him; He goes out to lay it down.
