Matthew 26:68 Meaning and Explanation

The abuse becomes a game. The other Gospels note that He was blindfolded; the blows come from unseen hands, and the demand follows each one: Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?

They mock the Prophet at the very moment His prophecies are coming true -- in the courtyard below, Peter is denying Him, just as He foretold. The taunt refutes itself. The mocked Christ knows exactly who smites Him, and He bears each blow with the patience of God.
