The leaders have reversed all values, hating good and loving evil, and they devour the very people they should protect.

What Does Micah 3:2 Mean?

The indictment is searing. These leaders hate the good and love the evil, an utter inversion of their calling. Then comes a brutal image: they tear the skin from the people and the flesh from their bones, as if devouring those they were meant to shepherd.

To love evil and hate good is the deepest corruption, for it poisons the conscience itself. The shepherds have become predators, consuming the flock. The verse is a warning against any power that feeds on the people it should serve, and it stands as the dark backdrop against which the true Shepherd, who lays down His life for the sheep, shines all the brighter.
