What Does Micah 5:15 Mean?
The chapter ends with a word of judgment upon the nations that defied God, a recompense in anger such as they have not heard. After cleansing His own people, He turns to deal with the rebellious peoples who set themselves against Him.
Divine justice is real and thorough; the Lord does not overlook persistent rebellion. Yet this same chapter has just shown His patient purifying of His own. The God who judges the nations is the God who shepherds His flock, and the warning to the defiant is also an invitation, while there is time, to turn and find shelter under the Ruler from Bethlehem rather than face His judgment.
