Nehemiah 10:27 Meaning and Explanation

This verse completes the long roll of signatories: priests, Levites, and the heads of the people, all now recorded. With the names finished, the document turns to the rest of the people and to the terms of the covenant itself.

The closing of the list marks a threshold. Having named those who sealed on behalf of the community, the chapter now draws in everyone else and states plainly what they all promised. The names were never the point; the covenant they bound themselves to was.
